Are you serious about your desire to change? Or just dreaming?

by Stacy Lewis on 05/11/12

There are many different areas you can look at when you have a transtion goal that will indicate whether what you have in the real deal, or just a dream.

You may even be adamant about how serious you are about your transition, and that is great.  But in the work I do with my private clients, upon taking a closer look at their goals I often find that there are a few common indicators that show just how serious they really are. (And by using the word serious here, I do not mean to say they are not committed to their desire to change or do not want to succeed, it just means they need to make some shifts in the way they are currently treating it.)

1) The Mindset This is important and it is something I work with my private clients on extensively. I have learned that to go big in your life, you have to think big and not necessarily act from the place where you are now. I make it a priority to work on my own growth as much as I work on my multiple transitions. Whether that means having a coach, reading inspiring books, turning off the news, surrounding yourself with people who already are where you want to be, it is key.

There is something to be said for staying in a place of being positive and focusing on what you want instead of what you do not. There is an attraction piece there, but what a lot of people miss, is that it is attraction PLUS action. You need to have both, and here is the great thing about action: action mitigates fear.

Fear, doubt, resistance, we all experience it.  But it can be very immobilizing, and sitting there doing nothing, or staying in a loop of thinking you do not know enough, or you will just do a little more research, or you will be able to do it when you have X in place just makes it worse. Get into action now.

2) The Productivity   Manage your time!

Make sure your environment supports you in staying productive. Chunk down the tasks you need to do each day so you are super clear on where your focus needs to be. Use a calendar system that works for you. Prioritize action activities that will move you towards your transition.

Sometimes people think there is a big secret to being successful, to reaching your goals. But the reality is not all that complicated. It is doing things in a certain way, it is doing them consistently and it is about persisting.

When you are struggling in your life, when you are doing things that are boring and leave you feeling less than satisfied you can not make the impact on the world that you really want to. It is not a fun place to be and it is distracting and not conducive to living a satisfying life.

It is about having joy in your business and your life. Approach your transitions with INTENTION, DIRECTION and FOCUS.
