Live Your Dreams? Materialize Your Vision? Follow Your Passion?

by Stacy Lewis on 03/16/12

Live your dreams! Materialize your vision!  Follow your passion!

This sounds so exciting.

But, have you ever wondered if you were the only one who did not have something you were passionate about?  Maybe you have to many things you want to materialize.  Maybe you do not know what dream you want to live?

Or, maybe you know what you want but are just scared to make the change.  You know the saying, The monster we know is better than the monster we do not know.

When we hear about others success stories we become inspired.  They can reinforce our commitment.  If she did it, I can to.

So how do you go about making that transition to living your dreams and following your passion, especially if you do not know what they are?

Step 1 - Label Your Passion:  Passion is the energy that comes from bringing more of you into what you do.  When you do what you are passionate about you get energy from doing it.

It does not have to be something that occupies your every waking thought or makes you quiver with excitement.  Your passions can be what matters to you, the activities you enjoy doing and are meaningful.

It is being who you are, doing what you are excited about, having fun and living with joy.  Simply put, when what you do is in alignment with who you are, you get energy from doing it.

Step 2 - Take Inventory of Your Current Situation:  Look at what you are doing now.

  • Why did you start doing it?
  • What was it that pulled you to your current situation?
  • Does your job and life involve a lot of activities you would rather not do?
  • Is there anyway you can focus more on what you like and delegate what you do not like?
  • Is there anyway you can focus more on your interests in your current situation?
  • Is there something new to learn about your passion that originally brought you to where you are now?

Look at your answers to these questions.  Is it time to try something else?

Sometimes what you thought you were passionate about changes. Sometimes you change.

Step 3 -  Take Deliberate Concise Action -   1) Explore your options  2) Develop your opportunities 3) Focus your attention  4) Implement a strategy and 5)  Materialize your vision by actually living your dreams.

Your willingness to make that transition is 90% of your success.

When you wake up in the morning, excited about your day, you know you are living with passion.  It can be done, maybe even with a little tweaking here and there in your current environment.

Question for You: If you had the option to be anywhere right now and doing anything, where and what would it be?

Thank you for the blog. It is hard to know what one's passion is. If I could be anywhere right now I would be sitting on the beach in the sun watching the surf go in and out. Thank you!
